My Easy Play is a toy lending library and they conducted a promotional event at Uniworld gardens, the apartment complex where we stay. The kids staying in Uniworld Gardens were divided into three groups – 2-4 years old, 4-6 years old, 7 and above and we were given topics to draw and color.
Though only four years and 3 months old I was asked to compete with 6 year olds. There were eight of us in my group.
My topic was “Toys” and I was supposed to draw a toy.
Since my parents were also at the event and encouraged me to draw whatever I wanted….I ended up drawing a flower. And then colored it as well.
I heard my parents discussing my choice and finally my mother closed it by saying: “Even if she gets disqualified it is fine…I don’t want to force her to draw against her wishes.”
By 11.30 am we had finished and were back in the house. Later in the evening I came to know that I had come second. I don’t know what that means…but I know I am going to get a prize.
I am told a prize is like a present that one gets during birthdays.
My parents showed my photograph My Easy Play website as well (re-produced below).

Today I placed my first big request to my father. We were out for a drive because the weather was good, and my father stopped the car to speak to his mom who had called us.
After that we got chatty and I placed a request for a big red car, so that I could go to office when I am a big girl. For now he has said he will buy me the car….I just hope he sticks to his words.

Here is my first poem. Needless to say I didn’t write it…I just narrated it to my parents.
On weekends, my whole family (obviously, my father, mother and I) sits together and create songs on the fly and we sing it as well …and I guess thats rubbed off on me.
So, here goes my poem. Note that I haven’t yet given it a title. Lets work with UNTITLED for now.
Ek, do, teen
Ek bachcha aaya
Usne doodhu (milk) piya
Usne school gaya
Usne daycare gaya
Vapas aagaya ghar mein
Usne cornflakes khaya
Usne doodhu piya
Usne mamma ko kiss kiya
Usne papa ko hug kiya
Aur sab friends ban gaye

We at Delhi Public School, Pre-Nursery wing had good fun this Nov 30. It was PTA….for those of you who don’t have kids and never went to school themselves…let me tell you that PTA means Parents Teachers Association.
Since it is winter here in Gurgaon, we organized ourselves outside in the sun and did some activities, and also played some games. While the parents stood around and watched us….I am sure my parents were thankful for the sun.
We finally had some snacks…and eventually my teacher Ms Ashmi madam broke the suspense and gave away my report card to my parents.
I saw my parents getting all mushy & excited when they received the report card. They went thro’ it from start to finish and in between would look at me with pride in their eyes. I was sitting a few feet away and just so I don’t end up embarrassing them by staring back at them….I would look away and keep busy my play dough. And when they were not looking, I would steal a glance. I got to agree, it feels happy to make your parents happy.
Thank God they don’t have ranks in pre-nursery.
By the way, before heading out for the PTA meeting our teacher assured us that we needn’t worry. She said she had given all of us good ratings and didn’t expect any parent to get angry.
I guess at such a small age, we need such assurances to keep us going.
Do take a look at some of the pics my father clicked at the PTA meeting today.

One of my aunts called Sumathy was born in Punjab and she ended being quite a fighter. As not a fighter pilot, but with an opinion of her own. So much so, she thinks that I look better in brown than in pink….I mean, shouldn’t I be the one that knows what I look good in?
Anyway, so when I got a chance to dress up as a Punjabi girl for a Lohri song in my school Delhi Public School, Pre-Nursery in Gurgaon….I jumped at the opportunity. Mind you…it was my first group dance performance.
The misers that my parents are, they went in for hiring the Punjabi girls attire. I requested them and finally pleaded too….to buy me my own pair of Punjabi clothes….but they just wouldn’t listen.
Anyway, on the day I went to school in hired colthes and ended up being the best dancer during the Lohri dance. Want to see my video? I am post that tomorrow. For now, why don’t you just try the pics given below:
